"BYZANTINE SYRIA"

15 October 2001 - 15 January 2002

As a sequel to its exhibitions

'Treasures of Armenia' (April - June 1998)

and 'The Venice of the Greeks -

The Greece of the Venetians' (March-April 1999),

the Athens Concert Hall is now staging an exhibition

on the subject of Byzantine Syria.

Il will be our first opportunity

here in Greece to see the traces left

by the early years of Christianity in this country,

a near neighbour of the Holy Land.

Sculpture, jewelry, coins and objects of daily use

will be loaned by museums from all over Syria.

A number of other exhibits from the same period

will also be loaned by the Benaki Museum.

The exhibition will be curated by the art critic

Mrs. Efi Andreadi.
